Embassy of Switzerland in Qatar

As the official representation of Switzerland, the Embassy covers all matters concerning diplomatic relations between the two countries. It represents Swiss interests in the areas of political, economic, financial and legal affairs, as well as science, education and culture.

Responsibilities

The Swiss embassy represents Switzerland's interests in the country. The Regional Consular Center in Doha is responsible for Qatar and Kuwait. Visa applications are received by an external service provider (VFS) in both countries.

Regional risks

On June 17, 2026, the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding to end the conflict.

The situation in the Near and Middle East remains tense. A rapid deterioration of the security situation is possible at any time.

Be prepared for short-term airspace closures and flight cancellations. Avoid locations near potential targets, such as diplomatic, military, and security-related infrastructure.

Stay informed about regional developments and follow the instructions of local authorities.

Keep up to date with developments in the region and follow the instructions of the local authorities.

The principle of personal responsibility applies in accordance with the Swiss Abroad Act.

We advise passengers travelling to or via Qatar to:

  • check their flight status regularly with their airline;
  • keep themselves informed of any changes to flight schedules or travel regulations;
  • keep your status in the Travel Admin app up to date; if you have already left the region, we urge you to manually end your trip
  • and to regularly consult the FDFA’s official channels.

In case of emergency, the FDFA helpline in Bern can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on +41 800 24 7 365 / +41 58 465 33 33 or by email at helpline@eda.admin.ch.
